What are RFID Antennas

RFID antennas are used with RFID readers in order to read a RFID tag. When a RFID tag passes near a reader, several things happen. RFID tags are “woken up” by the reader and receive a charge. Because tags contain an integrated circuit and an antenna, the tags are then able to transmit data to the reader. The reader picks up the information with the help of an antenna and then translates and stores the information.

While all RFID antennas are meant to perform a basic function within the wider RFID system, not all of them have the same capabilities. Some antennas are short-range antennas that are best suited for applications like encoding stations and packaging lines. Other RFID antennas have a wider range and can help keep track of inventory.
